"Not in the Bike Lane" another Public Service announcement from Casey
In a nutshell, Casey was ticketed by NYPD for not riding in the bike lane, and he made this video to prove that the bake lane isn't safe, because NYPD doesn't enforce the laws that are in place to keep the bike lane free of obstructions, constructions, cop cars, trash cans, etc etc. Bravo Casey!

But the quick summary is that the owner plead GUILTY to 52 counts. I don't like tow truck companies, or cops. Gee, imagine that I'm not fond of people that just make your car go away.
The City Attorney was making hay out of this of course, but when does a city attorney ever get good press anyway?

ever forget something? On your car? It's bad, but when a cop puts a semiauto ar15 on the trunk, and another doesn't bother with the required vehicle inspection, and drives out into public... it's worse
According to two sources with knowledge of the incident, it began when one officer was inside the secure parking garage at the West Precinct and unloaded his equipment from a police cruiser. The officer placed the rifle on the trunk of a nearby patrol car, forgot about the rifle and walked off.
Another officer then went into the garage and drove away in the patrol vehicle without realizing the rifle was on the trunk lid, the sources said. (it's procedural requirement to do a walk around pre operation, make sure the lights and siren work)
The patrol car was parked a few blocks away from the West Precinct in front of the Roosevelt Hotel on Seventh Avenue around 9 p.m. Monday when at least two people spotted the rifle on the unattended vehicle.
A man who identified himself as Nick Gonzales confirmed he snapped a photo (this photo above) of the unsecured weapon.
Police said he then flagged down a couple of nearby bicycle officers.

motorcycle license test (M1) ... why not take that test on a Can -Am 3 wheeler?
it is technically a motorcycle, and not registered or taxed as a car, so... instead of stuggling through a motorcycle test if you've never ridden a motorbike before, sit in comfort, breeze through the test, and go home without dumping a nice bike and having to fix a fairing.Yes, this sort of cheating at test has gotten me to where I am today... thinking outside that proverbial box

TWO large roadside billboards just inside the county lines north and south of town used to guard the approach to Ludowici. Placed there by Governor Lester Maddox, they warned approaching motorists of "speed traps" and "clip joints" in large black letters on a white background
The county seat, and location of all three of the county's newspapers. It was also one of the best-known little nowheres in the country. Sitting astride the junction of federal highways 301, 25 and 82, Ludowici commanded the traditional north-south highway to Florida; 1,000,000 motorists drive through town each year. But in 1975 the Interstate 95 diverted traffic around it.
During the '50s it became known as the site of a treacherous stop light that trapped motorists by changing from green to red without warning, after which the travelers were ticketed by a waiting policeman. Since 1960 when the light was replaced, Ludowici's speed traps have bilked motorists of a rumored $100,000 annually. Said Governor Maddox: "The place is lousy, rotten, corrupt, nasty and no good."
Ludowici has nevertheless defied the efforts of three Governors to shut down the speed traps. For years some of the local gas stations also conducted a profitable con game. When an unsuspecting motorist stopped to have his oil checked, the attendant would disable the car by tinkering with the generator or pouring water in the crankcase oil, then suggest that the customer move his crippled vehicle to a nearby garage for repair. Fittingly enough, the repair shop was called "Billy Swindel's."
The man behind the speed trap, and behind everything else in Ludowici, was the county's colorful political boss, Ralph Dawson, a back-country lawyer who ran Long County since 1932, he headed a political machine that never lost an election at the county or city level.

26 yr old Kyle Busch... Nascar Sprint Cup driver, in serious danger of losing his regular drivers lisense for 128 in a 45 in South Carolina
His nickname "Wild Thing"..., his crime? Nearly 3 times the speed limit.
Careless and reckless driving plus speeding. His wife was in the car with him.
On two lane Perth Road near Troutman, N.C. in a yellow 2012 Lexus LFA sports car, unregistered, still a dealership supercar he was loaned by Toyota-Lexus.
A very special supercar by Lexus, a 552-horsepower LFA coupe that began production in December with a very serious price tag of $375,000. Just 22 of them have been delivered so far to U.S. customers, with 500 examples planned worldwide.
Really? (as they say on Saturday night live) You really had to find the top speed of a Lexus?
If convicted, Busch can lose his license for up to a year and face $1,000 in fines.
"I was test driving a new sports car and I got carried away," Busch explained. "I went beyond the speed I should have been going on a public road."
Kyle is already on Nascar probation for infamous rule 12-4-A, "actions detrimental to stock car racing," from the Darlington incident with Kevin Harvick http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/NASCAR-Kevin-Harvick-and-Kyle-Busch-clash-after-Darlington-Cup-race (Harvick climbing out of his car to take a swing at Busch who stayed in his car. Harvick's ends up crashing into a wall) , but NASCAR decided Busch's speeding on a 2 lane at a splinter under 3ximes the posted limit didn't fall afoul of that rule... could it be that to link this incident to that would possibly result in a loss of championship points?
Near that area several other notable people have died in higher speed collisions.

1925 Monotrace found on http://flickriver.com/photos/jk1971/tags/monotrace Racing legends Donnie Allison, Sid Collins, Roger McCluskey, Ed McCulloch, Augie Pabst, Bruce Penhall and Ed Winfield will be enshrined into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America when the organization stages its annual induction celebration on August 23 and 24, 2011 in Detroit.
Ed Winfield was regarded as one of the all-time great mechanical minds motorsports has ever known. He was an expert in engine design and carburation and played a major role in the development of the famed Novi engine with his brother, Bud. He is generally recognized as the “Father of the Racing Cam Business,” making his first performance camshaft in 1914 at age 13 and is credited with creative cylinder head designs and other engine advancements.

Trusting that having the right color registration sticker will fool the cops... busted, because I look at these when stuck in traffic
That red decal, which appears to be 2006, is the same color as the currently legal 2011 red color sticker. That some of the red was accidentally peeled away exposing the yellow one behind it made me look close to see why some was missing. Poor technique I guess.Some people collect the whole set of colored registration stickers

Woman motorcycle cops, I just learned why we never see them except in movies
Women aren't generally interested in being cops, so very few cops are women. Of the women that want to be cops, few want to be on patrol. Of those that patrol, few can ride a motorcycle. Of the extemely few women in law enforcement that are on patrol, and can ride a motorcycle... few of them can lift a law enforcement spec motorcycle. A race bike maybe, but not a fully equipped motorcycle the cops ride, and have to lift from the ground as a requirement of the training course for motorcycle cops. And that is a train of events that creates a scarcity of women motorcycle cops
Automatic license plate recognition computer programs are now used by police (skip the first 10 seconds)
A better way to utilize this plate recognition software for stolen cars is to have the cameras on over passes, any stolen car on the freeway or highway will be pinged instantly.
Lots of stolen cars are never found. I like that law enforcement is using this new tech, out there busting people with no insurance or stolen plates, or out of date registration. However no insurance company is going to lower our rates because cops find more stolen cars, I bet you. Two times, as they said in "Do The Right Thing"
