After few leaked photos, Porsche has finally unveiled the all-new 911 (991) and announced that the vehicle will be unveiled next month at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. As expected, the 2011 Porsche 911 (or the so-called 991) is with 45 kilograms lighter than the current model and has a longer wheelbase (with 100 millimetre or 3.9 inches). The first model revealed by Porsche is the 911 Carrera, which is powered by the 3.4-litre boxer engine delivering 350 hp (~ 257 kW) and capable to offer a fuel consumption of just 8.2 litres per 100 kilometres (~ 34 mpg imp.) and 194 g/km CO2, with 1.6 l/100 km (~ 6 mpg imp.) less than its predecessor.

Still, the 911 Carrera can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds when paired with the PDK, and in just 4.4 seconds when using the Sport Plus. The 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera S is powered by a 3.8-litre boxer engine delivering 400 hp (~ 294 kW) and a fuel consumption of 8.7 l/100 km (~ 32 mpg imp.), when paired with the PDK. This means a 14% drop or 1.5 l/100 km (~ 5 mpg imp.). The 911 Carrera S with PDK can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just in 4.3 seconds and in just 4.1 seconds when using the optional Sport Chrono package.

In addition to the longer wheelbase, the 2011 Porsche 911 offers greater agility, precision and driving stability are based, among other things, on the wider front track, the new rear axle and new electro-mechanical power steering. For the first time, the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll stabilisation system is available for the 911 Carrera S. For those who don’t know, this system reduces the system reduces lateral inclination when cornering and keeps the tyres in the optimal position relative to the road surface. This means that the maximum cornering speeds are increased. Regarding the prices, the 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera is available for 88,038 euro (including 19 per cent VAT), while for the 2012 Carrera S you will have to pay 102,436 euro (including 19 per cent VAT).[via : 4wheelsnews]
