CEO confident that Audi will exceed 2011 sales target

Audi CEO Rupert Stadler said that the company is on track to surpass its sales volume target for 2011. In an Automotive News Europe interview, Stadler said that Audi will be able to easily sell more than the target of 1.2 million sales. He added that 2012 is likely to be successful too, with the arrival of the new generation of the A6 and the Audi Q3 in the autumn. These models will also be offered for a full 12-month period for the first time.

Audi will be expanding to attain annual new-car sales of 2 million by the year 2020. Audi’s initial goal of 1.5 million sales by 2015 is estimated to be reached in 2014. Audi’s growth will largely depend on the markets North America and China. Stadler said that Audi is performing “extremely well” in the U.S. and wants to increase sales by between 10% and 20%.

Last year, Audi attained a record-breaking U.S. sales figure of 100,000 units. Stadler shared that dealers are demanding more cars than it could deliver and so the company is confident that it could reach its target of 150,000 to 160,000 units before 2015. Audi expects that its growth in China will be significant. Stadler said that selling its first 1,000,000 units took 22 years but it expects that it will hit its second million mark in only three years, between 2011 and 2013.[via : 4wheelsnews]
